We Encourage Learning:
We encourage cognitive development - at a pace comfortable to each individual - by helping children to learn the alphabet, shapes, numbers, colors, animals and sounds. We spend time together each day in Circle Time where we read and sing to strengthen and reinforce this knowledge.
We guide language development by conversing with our children. We ask open-ended questions so that each child can begin to develop the thought processes needed to have conversations. We encourage respect by using phrases such as, "please" and "thank you."
Physical Development is Key:
We work with our children on their gross motor skills through our daily activities such as running, going for walks, playing on bicycles, and dancing to music. In addition we spend time daily focusing on fine motor skills through activities such as coloring, drawing, gluing, beading, and playing blocks, etc.
Play is Essential:
Play is an important part of our day in that it provides an opportunity for children to practice new skills and to co-operate with one another. It allows time for direct contact and interaction between the staff and children as well as among the children themselves. In addition, play fosters learning though curiosity, invention, persistence, and imagination.
